KAUNAS PHOTO festival, in it’s 14th edition exploring the theme of water, on the 1st of June, 8pm invites visitors to join the reception in Girstutis swimming pool. During the event the photographic project „From the Water“ by the photojournalist, traveler and diver Berta Tilmantaite will be displayed 1,4- 1,9 metres deep.
The first day of summer is going to be marked with the reception of the „Beach Season“ exhibition at the M. Žilinskas Art Gallery of M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art at 6pm. Afterwards, from 8pm KAUNAS PHOTO team invites everyone to the Girstutis swimming pool to celebrate the start of the wild swimming season and see the underwater exhibition.
KAUNAS PHOTO promises a great deal of entertainment: a refreshing swim, excellent photographic work by Berta Tilmantaite, improvised underwater photoshoots (bring you action cameras or underwater kit).
There will be artist talks followed by a DJ set.
The event marks the opening of the summer season in Girstutis swimming pool, which offers a discounted entry to the pool and saunas. All children will be treated to complimentary ice cream!
Berta Tilmantaitė’s series is made over three different continents: South America, Africa and Asia. Photographs depict the lives of people who depend on water and make a living from water, exploring themes of ecology, conservation, the importance of water in small communities and the future of the planet. Berta Tilmantaitė will present the series herself and will also talk about her time spent with sea nomads in Malaysia, Yongding river in Beijing and lives of people around the lake Victoria in Africa.
Special admission price for the KAUNAS PHOTO event: 5 EUR adults, 2 EUR children under the age of 16.
