KAUNAS PHOTO 2018
2018 KAUNAS PHOTO festival is open to a variety of themes, techniques and styles. In the year of 100th of the restored Lithuanian state, KAUNAS PHOTO call was a huge success bringing almost 300 proposals of photographers from 43 countries of the world. The selected works often retain motives of feeling or quest of home and comfort zone, flora, fauna and others.
While outdoor exhibitions are up in summer, KAUNAS PHOTO festival events start on 1st of September with the exhibition of KAUNAS PHOTO STAR Competition Finalists’ works across three venues: Kaunas city museum, Lithuanian folk music history department (L. Zamenhofo str. 12), “Meno parkas” gallery (Rotušės sq. 27.) and Kaunas Photography Gallery (Vilniaus str. 2). On 7th of September four exhibitions will open at M. Žilinskas Art Gallery, M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art (Nepriklausomybės sq. 12). Other events and exhibitions of KAUNAS PHOTO festival 2018 will take place in various galleries, museums and other creative spaces between the 1st of September until the end of October.
International photography festival KAUNAS PHOTO, now counting it‘s 15th edition, continues the tradition of outdoor exhibitions started in 2014. Kaunas residents and city visitors will be treated to a number of photography shows dotted around the city. The open air exhibitions of KAUNAS PHOTO 2018 will take place in the following locations: Chechnya square, the foot of Žaliakalnis hill funicular railway, Lithuanian zoo garden and the Botanical garden of Vytautas Magnus University.
KAUNAS PHOTO is the longest-running annual international photo art festival in Lithuania and the Baltic States. Since its first edition in 2004, it’s been organised by the NGO „Šviesos raštas“ and is regarded to be one of the most important continuous art events in the country. KAUNAS PHOTO is a member of „Festivals of Light“ organisation. The founder and the director of the festival is Mindaugas Kavaliauskas.
